My Mind Speaks..... A different kind of year

What a year that 2020 turned out to be. On any given year I probably would spend the last day of the year reflecting of the lesson brought upon by the year. I honestly don't even know where to start....I should probably start with what seemed to be 4 weeks of lockdown and take it up 9 months later!!
But do I talk about a deadly virus that shook the whole world? Or Do I focus on how we speculated about how a group of people in Wuhan decided to eat bats or so we are told? Or maybe we can talk about how ill disciplined Europe has been with this virus but that then begs the question of how they managed to evade the other deadly virus (HIV); which seems to have been created for the Southern side of Africa. Without getting into conspiracy theories maybe we should reflect on the French Media Personality, that earlier implied that the new vaccine should be tested on Africans when Europe clearly needed it more than us. But that will just be another never ending debate. We could talk about working from home. How going to the office has always been a scam. As if the universe decided to push us to move with the times and help companies realise that, where possible, work can be done at home Or maybe we could chat about moving into the online church... Hahaha quite an interesting one for me!! Still getting the hang of it.
Whatever the topic may be regarding 2020 one thing is for sure this is a year we will not forget. This year is for the books.

Reflection gives one opportunity to review some of life's biggest lessons. It can be used as a learning experience. So take time to reflect on the year that has just passed. Think beyond a global pandemic.
This year has taught me that everything is temporary. Be it our drive, our jobs, education, exercise, our relationships, everything that we used to take for granted, everything we thought would last forever is just a fleeting moment in the bigger picture that we're mere blips in. This year has taught me how busy we get in our lives - as meaningless as those of machines in factories; we ignore all the things that truly matter. Like humanity, compassion, love and forgiveness. Fighting for what's right. Believing in change and becoming it for as long as we can to stimulate some sort of growth. It took the whole world ripping at the seams for us to pause, breathe, reflect. And accept there's so much wrong with the world and countless excuses that we make not to think about the wrongness. I mean the other I heard that in one of China industrial towns they saw the stars for the first time in many years because factories closed for a while thus the smoke that had created a thick cloud cleared making it possible to see something as simple as the stars!!!

To push it aside. It took pausing, breathing and reflecting to understand that we are what's wrong with the world. Now is the right time act and do what's right for all of us. This year has taught me so much but perhaps the biggest lesson I learned was that the phrase 'A single person can change the world' brings with it alot more pain than I thought it did.

Life is a group assignment vhathu vha hashu. Muthu ndi muthu nga vhathu. As we welcome the new year, may we all remember that together we can...
